EJ Sligo All-Stars run in this year's Pat Duffy National Cup came to an end at the semi-final stage on Saturday as Shane O'Meara's injury-hit side went down to holders UCC Blue Demons at Neptune Stadium in Cork.
The All-Stars build-up to this game was hampered by injuries to three key players: team captain Tom Child, Jonathon Brown and American Rob Montgomery.
The latter injured his hamstring in training during the week and was unable to play any part in Saturday's game.
The All-Stars produced a strong opening quarter - but still trailed by 13 points at half-time.
However, with Canadian Devonnie Scott leading by example (he scored 28 points for the All-Stars), Sligo managed to close the Demons lead to seven points at one stage in the final quarter.
However, fatigue, the injury count and resulting lack of options from the bench told against them in the closing moments as the holders secured a 14-point victory - and a place in next weekend's final in Dublin.
