Sligo Rovers run in the women's Sports Direct FAI Cup came to end at the Showgrounds on Sunday afternoon as a deflected Shauna Brennan first-half strike gave holders Athlone Town a narrow 1-0 semi-final win.
The result means that for the third season in a row, Athlone will face Shelbourne in the cup decider.
While there was no doubting Athlone's quality, Rovers display over the 90 minutes was one of courage and conviction and they pushed their opponents all the way in this contest.
