Ireland para-cyclists Katie George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal finished fifth in Friday's one-kilometre time-trial at the velodrome in Paris.
Dunleavy, whose father John hails from Mountcharles in Donegal, had been ill in the days leading up to this race - and had only recently recovered from a shattered collarbone sustained in a World Cup race back in May.
The Ireland duo were still in the bronze medal position with just two tandem bikes to go - but both the Australian and GB bikes went quicker to push Ireland out of the medals.
Dunlevy and McCrystal still have their silver medal event from Tokyo three years ago - the 3000m individual pursuit - to come on Sunday.
