IT Sligo senior men's gaelic footballers suffered a heavy 4-15 to 0-7 defeat to University of Limerick in the opening round of the Sigerson Cup on Tuesday night.
Kerry forward David Clifford was among the UL goalscorers in a one-sided contest played in Limerick.
Despite the loss, IT Sligo will get a second chance in this year's competition.
They now face T Carlow in a losers round two match next week.

UL now face Maxi Curran's Letterkenny IT (LYIT), who came from behind beat Carlow by two points in their first round match on Monday night.
