Dromore West's Keelan Kilrehill finished 17th for Ireland in Sunday's senior men's race at the Spar European Cross Country Championships in Brussels.
He was the second Irish runner home - with national champion Cormac Dalton finishing an excellent eighth.
The Irish team were in the bronze medal position as the 9000 metres race entered the final lap - only for Norway to edge ahead on the team standings in the closing stages - which dropped Ireland to fourth overall.
The Ireland men's under-20 team won team gold with Tyrone's Nick Griggs winning individual bronze.
Sligo town's Michael Morgan, who's currently on a Sports Scholarship with Providence College in the United States, was 54th in the men's U23 race.
Fionnuala McCormack, competing in her 18th Euro Cross Country championships, finished fourth in the senior women's race.
The Flanagan sisters Eilish and Roisin of Finn Valley AC, finished 44th and 49th respectively.
Amy Greene (Finn Valley) was 29th in the women's U20 race.
