Keelan Kilrehill & Ireland narrowly miss out on team medal in Lisbon

Dromore West's Keelan Kilrehill and the Ireland men's under 20 team narrowly missed out on a team medal at Sunday's European Cross Country Championships in Lisbon.

The Moy Valley AC athlete finished 25th in the race.

His team-mate Efrem Gidey won a bronze medal. He moved to Ireland 2017 as a refugee from Eritrea.

For a time, it looked like Ireland's strong finish might see them collect a bronze medal. But they finished fourth on a countback and so narrowly missed out.

Sligo-based athlete John Travers was also competing for Ireland in Lisbon in the mixed relay team race.
