Kilcar's Mark McHugh will be part of the Westmeath senior gaelic football manager Dermot McCabe's management team.
The former Cavan All-Star was ratified on Tuesday night, as the successor to Dessie Dolan, who stood down from the role in August.
McCabe has been building an extensive managerial CV in recent years, having been assistant to Mickey Graham when Cavan won the Ulster senior football title in 2020.
Prior to that, he managed to the Cavan minors to provincial success - and in more recent seasons, had led Gowna to back-to-back Cavan SFC titles.
McHugh, for his part, previously worked with Davy Burke’s Roscommon and is currently involved with Moycullen in Galway, who will meet Corofin in a repeat of last year’s senior county final later this month.
Westmeath secured promotion to Division 2 of the National Football League last season, despite losing their final Division 3 game to Sligo at Markievicz Park.
