Sligo Athletic Club's Lauren Cadden has been named on the Ireland athletics team for the upcoming European Indoor Championships in the Netherlands
Cadden, a European silver medallist outdoors with the women's 4 x400 metres relay team in 2024, will compete in the indiviual 400 metres event - and will hope to be part of a strong-long women's relay quartet.
It's Cadden's first senior international selection for an individual event.
She reached the final of the women's 400m at last weekend's 123.ie Irish Indoor Championships in Dublin, but stepped off the track while in contention in the early stages of the final.
The race was won by Sharlene Mawdsley, who's also on the Ireland team for the Netherlands.
Donegal's Mark English, a four-time European championships medallist, returns to international action and is selected in the 800m following his record-breaking performance earlier this season.
He missed last weekends Irish Indoor Championships because of a minor injury, but is expected to be in good shape for the Euros.
Fellow Finn Valley AC athlete Arlene Crossan is also picked.
She, along with Lauren Cadden, will be part of the women's 4 x 400m relay squad.
The European Indoor Championships take place in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, from March 6th – 9th.
