There was disappointment for the Leitrim combined schools gaelic football team in Wednesday night's Connacht Colleges senior 'A' football semi-final in Bekan, as opponents St Coleman's of Claremorris won by 1-12 to 0-10.
The leitrim team, made up of players from secondary schools in Manorhamilton, Drumkeerin, Drumshanbo, Mohill, Carrigallen and Carrick-on-Shannon, were bidding to reach the provincial decider in just their second season in the 'A' colleges championship.
The sides were level at 0-6 each at half-time - but a goal for Coleman's early in the second half proved to be a pivotal score.
The Claremorris school will now face Summerhill College of Sligo in the Connacht Colleges senior 'A' final on Saturday, February 8th.
The finalists have already met in the group stages of this season's senior championship, with Summerhill winning that encounter in December by 1-13 to 1-6.
However, that game is unlikely to have much bearing on the final.
