Leitrim women's gaelic footballers made a winning start to their 2024 Lidl NFL Division 4 campaign with an emphatic 2-18 to 0-2 victory over luckless Kilkenny on Dunmore on Sunday.
Beaten league finalists last season, Leitrim were determined to make a strong start to this year's campaign and goals from Ailbhe Clancy in the first half, and Bronagh O'Rourke in second book-ended a comprehensive display at Kilkenny's county GAA training centre.
Led by team captain, Michelle Guckian, they kept their opponents scoreless in the opening half to lead by 1-10 to 0-0, and Kilkenny were restricted to just two points in the second period.
