There was disappointment for both Leitrim and Sligo women's gaelic footballers on the opening Sunday of the TG4 All-Ireland intermediate football championship - as both counties lost their group matches.
The manner of those defeats could have been more contrasting.
Connacht Champions Leitrim were beaten by a single point after an enthralling hour of football in Drumshanbo., with the Garden County winning by 3-10 to 3-9.
Leitrim led by a point at half-time with their first-half goals coming from Michelle Guckian and Laura O'Dowd.
However, Wicklow took control early in the second-half as Leitrim were unable to keep the scoreboard moving with the same fluency.
Síomha Quinn gave the home side fresh hope with a goal in the closing quarter - but Wicklow held on for the narrowest of victories.
In Sunday's Group D game in Keash, Anthony Brennan's Sligo were outclassed by an impressive Laois who hit six goals past the home side en route to a facile 6-22 to 0-7 win.
The All-Ireland intermediate series is being played on a round-robin basis with four groups.
The top two counties from each group will qualify for the All-Ireland quarter-finals.
