There was Leitrim success at the inaugural Sligo's Fittest Superstars event in the Mercy College, Sligo, on bank-holiday Monday as the LMS Xpresss team led by dual football star Muireann Devaney won the top prize.
The competition was a major fundraiser for the Mercy College's plan to build a new school sports astro faciltity - and was based on the popular television series 'Ireland's Fittest Family'.
Waterford senior hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald was the event co-ordinator on the day in the Mercy as 40 teams battled their way through a series of challenges.
In the end, the LMS quartet of Muireann Devaney, Ryan Gilligan, Martin Rooney, and Donnacha Devaney won the top prize, out of 40 competing teams.
LMS Xpress is based on the Finisklin road in Sligo.
The event raised €100,000 for the Mercy College towards the building of a new sports astro pitch for the school.
