Local hopes chase 'West' leader Paul Coughlan on final day

Castleknock's Paul Coughlan takes a two-stroke lead into the final day's play of the 2021 West of Ireland Championship at Co Sligo Golf.

He leads the field on seven-under-par (-7) going into today's 36 holes of strokeplay.

There are two local players inside the top 10 going into Sunday's final two rounds - TJ Ford (Co Sligo) on -4 and 15-year-old Aodhagan Brady (Co Sligo) on -1.

44 players made the half-way cut, which fell at +8.

In total, five Co Sligo players teed it up on Sunday: TJ Ford (-4), Aodhagan Brady (-1), David Brady (+4), Barry Anderson (+7) and Ruairi O'Connor (+8).

Donegal golfer Ryan Griffin from Ballybofey & Stranorlar also made the cut on +5.

The players play rounds three and four of the 72-hole strokeplay competition on Sunday.

Play began at 7:30am on Sunday morning.
