South West Donegal have set up a first-ever all-Donegal semi-final in the Ulster Colleges MacRory Cup following Sunday evening's dramatic 2-7 to 1-7 over Omagh CBS at Healy Park.
Omagh were the reigning MacRory and All-Ireland Hogan Cup championships, two competitons they had won for the last two years.
But they were caught a late South West goal in added time, which gave the MacRory newcomers a priceless victory.
South West are an amalgamation of five Donegal post primary schools: Colaiste na Carraige, St Catherine’s Vocational School Killybegs, St Columba’s Comprehensive Glenties, Pobalscoil Na Rossan and Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair.
This is the team’s first year to contest Ulster Colleges gaelic football premier post-primary competition.
They will now face Donegal's other MacRory Cup newcomers this year, Abbey VS, in an all-Donegal semi-final.
Ulster Schools GAA has confirmed that the all-Donegal semi-final will be played on Saturday afternoon (Jan 25th) in Fr Tierney Park, Ballyshannon, at 2pm.
