Sligo's Mona McSharry missed out on a second bronze medal at the European Shortcourse Swimming Championships in Glasgow on Saturday night by .04 seconds after finishing fourth in the women's 100 metres breaststroke final.
The 19-year-old, who trains out of the Marlins Swimming Club in Ballyshannon, led at the halfway stage but was eventually caught and edged out of the medals in the closing stages of the race.
McSharry’s time of 1.05.16 was almost a second slower than her Irish record breaking semi-final.
She was back in the pool a short time later as she helped the Ireland 4x50 metres mixed freestyle relay quartet to eightth place in the final. The team set a new Irish senior record of 1.31.86 seconds.
