Mark English qualifies for 800m final at European Championships

Donegal’s Mark English qualified for the final of the men’s 800 metres at the European Athletics Championships in Munich following a third-placed finish in Friday evening's semi-final.

The Letterkenny man finished in a time of 1.46.66.

Friday evening's race was won by Marino Garcia of Spain with Great Britian's Jake Wightman in second.

Finn Valley AC clubman English will be hoping for a strong performance at the European Championships following Olympic disappointment twelve months ago.

English's final takes place on Sunday at 6.40pm Irish time.
