Former Tánaiste Mary Coughlan was elected unopposed as the new Chairperson of Donegal GAA for 2024 at Wednesday night's Annual Convention in Ballybofey.
The St Naul's clubwoman succeeds outgoing Chair Fergus McGee.
Coughlan spoke to Ocean FM Sport's Austin O'Callaghan following her election.
The Donegal County Executive is set to have its highest ever female representation in 2024 with five women being elected or returned to their roles.
They are:
Chairperson: Mary Coughlan (St Naul's)
Treasurer: Grace Boyle (Termon)
Assistant Secretary: Mary Kelly (Ardara)
PRO: Sinead Breen (St Mary's Convoy)
Irish Language & Cultural Officer: Catriona Sweeney (Burt).
Other items of note at Convention included:
- The end-of-year accounts showed an operating deficit of €140,000.
- Total expenses for all county teams this year were 1.16 milllion euro.
- The outgoing Chair confirmed that the county’s Academy will be up and running again in the New Year.
- Former county player, Ardara’s Damian Diver, takes over from Michael McGeehin as the county’s Coaching Officer.
