Mixed fortunes for College GAA teams

There were mixed fortunes for the two Sligo schools who won Connacht senior colleges gaelic football titles last season in Wednesday's group matches.

Defending Connacht 'A' champions Summerhill College lost to St Jarlath's of Tuam in their opening group game, on a final scoreline of 2-6 to 1-8.

Summerhill had led by 1-6 to 0-4 midway through the second half, but a strong finish by Jarlath's saw them score an unanswered 2-2 to claim the win.

In the Connacht 'B' championship, holders St Attracta's collected their first win in the group stage, with an impressive 5-15 to 1-7 win over 14-man Garbally College of Ballinasloe.
