Seven months after winning Olympic bronze for Ireland in Paris, Sligo's Mona McSharry is back in the pool competitively in the United States this weekend, when she competes for the University of Tennessee at the prestigious South Eastern Conference (SEC) Championships in Alabama.
McSharry has returned to Tennessee to pursue a Masters qualification - and is set to swim in the 100m and 200m breaststroke events.
During her time as an undergraduate in Tennessee, McSharry won five SEC breaststroke titles.
She'll be competing in the final two days of the championships this Friday and Saturday.
The Grange woman had been taking some time out from competitive swimming in the immediate aftermath of her Paris triumph.
Still only 24, it now appears she is dipping her toe in the competitive waters again stateside.
