A new strategic plan for sport in County Sligo was officially launched by the Sligo Sport & Recreation Partnership on Wednesday evening.
The new five-year plan sets out a blueprint aimed and building capacity and increasing participation in sport between now and 2023. It was launched by the CEO of Sport Ireland John Treacy.
The assembled guests at the Sligo County Council offices included a range of sports athletes and personalities from across the north west region, among them six-time Irish national shortcouse swimming championship gold medallist Mona McSharry.

The new plan entitled 'Building a culture of sport and physical activity in Sligo' has four main goals:
GOAL 1: Increase Participation
GOAL 2: Build Capacity
GOAL 3: Enhance Communication
GOAL 4: Strengthen the organisation.
