Curry's Red Óg Murphy has opted out of the Sligo senior gaelic football panel for the 2022 season.
The 21-year-old has decided instead to concentrate on club football and his studies in DCU (where he is training to be a teacher) in the New Year.
Murphy was speaking to promote the 'Win A House In Sligo' fundraiser, a joint draw between his home club Curry and Roscommon club Shannon Gaels.
The clubs are offering one luck person the opportunity to to live mortgage free in a brand new house in Sligo worth over €340,000.
The three-bedroom home is located seven minutes from surfer's paradise at Strandhill Beach. The winner will be announced on 9 January.
"I've decided that for this year coming I won't be going in with Sligo.
"I have plenty going on with my club and with DCU so that is going to be where my focus is," he said.
"I'm not saying I'm done with county football, it's definitely not going to be my last year or anything. If I'm ever asked back in, it's always something you'd consider."
Murphy came to prominence in schools football with St Attracta's in Tubbercurry, and was signed by AFL club North Melbourne in 2018.
However, he returned home in 2019 to resume his gaelic football career.
Murphy said his decision to take a break from senior intercounty football wasn't linked to the GAA's decision to reject Proposal B and football championship reform at the recent Special Congress.
