Athlone Town have announced that Gurteen’s Roisin Molloy is staying on with the midlands club for the 2025 season.
Molloy won a league winners medal with Athlone last season – they also reached the FAI Cup final for the second year in a row – but Shelbourne denied them the double.
Molloy was also shortlisted for League of Ireland Player of the Season.
Some Sligo Rovers supporters might have been hoping that the 24-year-old might be enticed to the Showgrounds – but she’s been studying at the local technological University in Athlone in recent years, so Athlone remains her football home for now.

Her first pre season game, could be against Sligo Rovers this Saturday.
The two clubs meet in a friendly fixture in Athlone.
