Seamie Coleman Ireland's Man of the Match in Swiss loss

Republic of Ireland captain Seamus Coleman produced another trademark performance for his country in Tuesday night's friendly international against Switzerland at the Aviva Stadium - but it wasn't enough to prevent the visitors and Euro 2024 finalists from securing a 1-0 win.

The game was the second international of interim boss John O'Shea's tenure in charge of the side - he signalled his interest aftewards in being considered for the manager's role on a permanent basis.

Tuesday night's game wasn't a classic.

Former Liverpool player Xherdan Shaqiri scored the game's only goal from a free-kick.

Elsewhere, Jonathan Hill could be entering his final hours as FAI CEO.

The Irish Independent reported on Tuesday night that Hill’s position will come under threat at today’s FAI Board meeting.

Hill received - and subsequently paid back - 20-thousand euro in excessive payments.
