Sligo Light welterweight boxer Dean Clancy has been selected as part of the Irish boxing team that will contest the upcoming 73rd International Boxing Tournament STRANDJA.
The tournament, which will take place in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia will be contested by elite female and male amateur boxers from a variety of countries.
Clancy, who trains out of the Sean McDermott Boxing Club in Manorhamilton represents Ireland alongside Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Kellie Harrington and other Olympians Michaela Walsh from Belfast and Aoife O'Rourke of Roscommon.
As part of the 15 fighter Irish team, which includes eight female and seven male fighters, Clancy will be hoping to build from a strong 2021 in which he was crowned European Under-22 Champion following a no-show from his opponent in the final.
The STRANDJA tournament takes place from the 20th to the 27th of February
