Sligo club championship weekend round up

There were wins for Calry/St Joseph's and St Mary's on Sunday in the Homeland Sligo Senior Football Championship.

St Mary's enjoyed a 3-12 to 0-10 win over Eastern Harps in Group One at Connolly Park in Collooney. It was 1-6 to 0-6 in favour of the winners at the half-time break after Harps enjoyed a better opening 20 minutes. However, two second half goals sent St Mary's to the top of the Group One standings.

After the game, St Mary's manager Aidan Rooney spoke to Ocean FM Sport's Austin O'Callaghan:

Elsewhere on Sunday, Calry/St Joseph's finished strongly to collect the points from their Group Two clash with Coolaney/Mullinabreena. David Cummins' side ended as 2-10 to 1-7 winners in Ransboro.

On Saturday, beaten 2019 county finalists Coolera/Strandhill had eight points to spare over last year's Intermediate winners Geevagh in Group Two. It finished 0-14 to 0-6 at Markievicz Park.

In Group One on Saturday evening, Drumcliffe/Rosses Point and Tubbercurry played out a thrilling 1-11 to 0-14 draw at Connolly Park in Collooney. Niall Colleary's first half goal helped the north Sligo men to a 1-8 to 0-4 half-time lead, but a storming Tubbercurry comeback in the second half saw them take the lead before Eoghan Smith's added time free levelled matters.

Here are the post-match thoughts of Drumcliffe/Rosses Point manager Fergal O'Flaherty:
