Sligo senior gaelic footballers were too good for New York in Saturday's Connacht senior football semi-final at Markievicz Park, winning on a final scoreline of 2-16 to 0-6.
It wasn't a flawless Sligo display but two goals from full foward Paddy O'Connor, one in either half helped lay the foundation for a comfortable win against a visiting New York who were very competitive in the opening half - but faded somewhat in the second.
The visitors frustration boiled over in the closing quarter with a red card for former Down footballer Niall Madine, following a challenge on Sligo's Eddie McGuinness.
Sligo now await the winners of Sunday's semi-final at Dr Hyde Park between Roscommon and Galway (4pm).
The Connacht final will be played on Sunday, May 7th.
Saturday's win also assures Sligo of a place in the All-Ireland Sam Maguire Championship series, which means they are guaranteed at least four more championship games this season.
