Sligo Grammar School's stranglehold on rugby's Connacht Senior 'A' Schools Cup title was finally loosened on Wednesday afternoon as opponents Marist College, Athlone, claimed the 2025 title with a 33-29 victory over the holders in Athlone.
The Grammar, who were bidding to win a fourth consecutive schools cup title, appeared to be in all sorts of trouble in the opening half when trailing 14-0.
However, they came storming back in the second period - and twice led match (15-14 and 29-26) - only for Marist to score a late converted try to clinch a pulsating final by a four-point winning margin.
