After helping Sligo Grammar School lift an historic third consecutive Connacht senior 'A' schools cup title, Leitrim's Diarmaid O'Connell has received a call-up to the Ireland under-18 schoolboys rugby squad.
O'Connell, who's a fifth-year student at Sligo Grammar, was a pivotal player in Wednesday evening's 29-18 victory over Marist College (Athlone) at the Dexcom Stadium in Galway.
The win completed an unprecedented treble-double for the Sligo school: Three consecutive Connacht league and cup doubles.
The 17-year-old, who plays his club rugby with Carrick Rugby Club, spoke to Ocean FM Sport's Austin O'Callaghan on Thursday.
