Sligo hurlers made a winning start to their competitive season on Tuesday evening in the Connacht GAA Air Dome with an impressive 1-32 to 1-23 victory over Mayo in the new pre-season provincial hurling competition, played at the NUI Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome in Bekan.
Gerard O'Kelly-Lynch's second-half goal was instrumental in a nine-point winning margin for the Yeats County.

The other semi-final between Leitrim and Roscommon will be played on Wednesday evening (7:30pm) with the final fixed for the Air Dome on Saturday.
The match also marked a Sligo debut for midfielder Patrick Foley, who's a native of Clarinbridge in Galway.
