Sligo senior hurlers suffered their first defeat of the Allianz Hurling League Division 3A after losing to Mayo in the top of the table clash by 2-12 to 0-14.
The two sides were one and two in the table going into Saturday's encounter at Kent Park.
Playing with the advantage of a strong wind, Stephen Shiel's Sligo led 0-10 to 0-3 in the opening half, with Mayo guilty of a succession of wides in front of goal.
However, the visitors came back into it in the second half, with the wind at their backs, scoring two second-half goals to preserve their unbeaten record and qualify directly for the Division 3A final.
Sligo finished the game with 14 players following a second-half red card for Gavin Connolly.
This was Sligo's first defeat in the league - and they can still make the league decider.
They now face a semi-final against Cavan.
