Sligo suffered their second loss in this season's Allianz Hurling League Division 3 at Kingspan Breffni on Saturday, as Cavan won by 1-17 to 1-12.
The home side led by 0-11 to 1-5 at the interval - Andy Killcullen netting the Sligo goal - but Stephen Shiel's side were unable to reel in their opponents in the second half.
Cavan's opening score of the second half was a Canice Shiel goal and it keep enough daylight between the teams from then on for the home side to see out the victory.
Sligo now prepare for a game against Mayo in round 3 next week.
