Sligo-Leirim girls under-14 soccer team beat Limerick Desmonds in a penalty shoot-out on Saturday to finish third overall in the prestigious Gaynor Cup, hosted by University of Limerick.
The north west girls drew 1-1 with Limerick in the third-place play-off on Saturday at the end of normal time -and won the shoot-out 3-0.
The tournament was won by MSL South from Dublin who beat Midlands (conquerors of Sligo-Leitrim in the semi-finals) 2-0 in Saturday's finale.
Elsewhere, Donegal under-14s finished fourth in the Shield competition after losing their third-place play-off to Galway 3-1
