Athlone Town claimed a first-ever women's FAI Cup title on Sunday with a penalty shoot-out victory over holders Shelbourne at Tallaght Stadium.
Athlone won 4-3 on spot kicks after the sides had finished level at 2-2 at the end of the extra-time.

Gurteen's Roisin Molloy started Sunday's final for Athlone while Manorhamilton's Muireann Devaney was introduced as a second-half substitute.

Holders Shelbourne had beaten Athlone in last season's cup final - but this time the midlands club came from 2-1 down to force extra-time and then win the shootout.
