Rovers did have a spell of pressure in the second-half after falling behind - but in truth, this was a poor display by the visitors with Dundalk deserving winners over the 90 minutes.
This defeat, coupled with last Friday's 4-1 loss in Waterford appears to have undone the promise shown in recent victories against league leaders Shelbourne and Drogheda.
This was Rovers manager John Russell's postmatch interview with LOITV.
The League of Ireland now takes a mid-season break (two weeks) as Euro 2024 begins on Friday.
Rovers will resume on June 28th with a home fixture against Shamrock Rovers, who were beaten 2-1 by Stephen Kenny's St Pat's on Thursday night
