Sligo suffered their sixth defeat in a row in Division 3 of the national football league on Saturday afternoon at rainy Glennon Pearse Park when they were beaten by Longford by 2-15 to 0-14.
Ssecond-half goals from Darren Gallagher and Nigel Rabbitte were the decisive scores with both players finishing the game with 14 players.
Pat Hughes received a second yellow card in the early moments of the second-half while Mickey Quinn got the line later in the half.
Sligo showed good promise in the opening half. Fine points from Niall Murphy and Seán Carrabine helped them establish a 0-11 to 0-8 half-time lead.
But once Longford stepped things up after the restart, Sligo were unable to respond. Hughes' early second-half dismissal didn't help - and Rabbitte's goal in the closing moments sealed the victory for the Shannonside county. Longford outscored their opponents in the second 35 minutes by 2-7 to 0-3.

After six league matches, Paul Taylor's side remain pointless and bottom of the Division 3 table.
