Sligo senior women's gaelic footballers were relegated from Division 3 of the Lidl National Football League on Sunday following a 2-12 to 2-7 loss to Louth in Clooncool.
Cormac Reape's side finish bottom of the table - with their opening day draw with Offaly, their only point from their six matches.
They needed to beat Louth on Sunday and hope that Roscommon beat Antrim to avoid the drop.
The second part of the equation happened but, despite leading Louth by 2-3 to 1-5 at half-time, the wee county produced the better football in the second half to run out five-point winners and consign the Yeats girls to Division 4 next season.
Roscommon and Clare have earned promotion and qualified for the Division 3 league final.
