Sligo Rovers suffered a 4-1 loss to Waterford in Friday night's SSE Airtricity League Premier Division game at the RSC in Waterford.
Two goals from former Rovers striker Padraig Among, along with goals from Ben McCormack and Connor Parsons gave the home side an emphatic win.
Wilson Waweru scored a fine volleyed consolation goal for Rovers in the closing quarter - but in truth Rovers were outplayed and outfought for much of the ninety minutes.
