There was disappointment for Sligo Rovers Chairman Martin Heraghty in Saturday's FAI Presidential election at the association's EGM in Blanchardstown.
Heraghty, who was one of two candidates standing for the role, was beaten by Corkman Gerry McAnaney by 88 votes to 40.
McAnaney, who is a retired member of the Irish Defence Forces, has been a member of the FAI's Council for many years. He succeeds the outgoing President Donal Conway, whose tenure officially came to an end on Saturday.
Heraghty, from circular road in Sligo, was elected to the FAI's new interim board last July as one of the League of Ireland representatives.
