Sligo Rovers lose 3-0 to Shamrock Rovers

Sligo Rovers are now just two points above the relegation zone in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division following bank holiday Monday's 3-0 defeat to leaders Shamrock Rovers at the Showgrounds.

After a scoreless first half, two goals from Rory Gaffney and a third in the dying moments of the game from former Showgrounds player Aaron Greene sealed a comfortable three points for the Dubliners - as they opened up a four-point lead at the top of the table.

Second placed Derry City were beaten 4-1 by St Patrick's Athletic.

Pat Hoban scored a hat-trick for Dundalk as Stephen O'Donnell's side got back to winning ways.

The Louth club beat UCD 4-1 at Oriel Park.

At Turner's Cross, Cork City's impressive run of form continued with a dramatic 2-1 defeat of Bohemians.

In the First Division, leaders Galway United maintained their ten point advantage at the top with a comfortable 6-nil win at home to Finn Harps.
