Sligo Rovers suffer 2-1 home defeat to Shamrock Rovers

Sligo Rovers were denied a share of the spoils in their opening match of the new women's SSE Airtricity League of Ireland Premier Division season on Saturday as Shamrock Rovers struck for an injury-time goal to secure a dramatic 2-1.

Republic of Ireland international Aine O'Gorman was the visitors matchwinner as she popped up in the 92nd minute to score the the decisive goal.

Prior to that, Rovers captain Emma Hansberry had brought the home side level with a deflected free-kick in the second-half, which cancelled out Shauna Fox's seventh minute goal for Shamrock Rovers which gave them the lead.

Donegal siblings Jodie and Keri Loughrey both made their League of Ireland debuts for Sligo Rovers in the second half.
