Sligo under-20 gaelic footballers began the defence of their Connacht title on Wednesday evening with an. impressive 0-15 to 1-8 win over Roscommon at Dr Hyde Park.
The holders had established a 0-10 to 0-1 lead towards the end of the opening half before Roscommon scored 1-1 in added time to give themselves fresh hope at the interval.
The home side's rally continued in the second half as they closed the gap to a single point at one stage.
But, in the closing stages, Sligo showed commendable composure to score the game's last three scores and secure victory by four points.
Bunninadden's Luke Marren was Sligo's top scorer on the night, contributing 0-10.

Sligo will now play Mayo in the Connacht U20 football semi-final next Wednesday, April 12th.
