There was disappointment for the Sligo under 16 girls rugby team on Saturday afternoon in the Connacht Division 2 league final at Castlebar.
Playing in their first ever provincial decider, Sligo were beaten by Tuam/Oughterard 24-0.
The Sligo girls battled tirelessly throughout but were second-best on the day. Tuam/Ougherard established a 12-0 half-time lead and added two further tries in the second half to claim the Division 2 league title.
Nonetheless, it was a fair achievement by this developing Sligo team to reach their first ever Connacht league final.
