Sligo U20 captain Canice Mulligan wins player award

Sligo under-20 football captain Canice Mulligan has been named as the Eirgrid Player of the Province in this year' s Connacht under-20 football championship.

The St Pat's clubman collects the accolade following a series of impressive displays in Sligo's run to the provincial title, which included victories against Roscommon, Mayo and Galway.

Sligo are currently preparing for this Saturday's All-Ireland semi-final against Kerry in Salthill.

The will have to plan for the match without Owenmore Gaels Dillon Walsh, who is currently recovering in hospital after contracting Meningitis

Walsh also produced series of inspirational performances off the bench during the Connacht championship - and fisted over the winning point in the recent Connacht final win over Galway.

Saturday's semi-final will be broadcast live from Pearse Stadium on Ocean FM from 4:45pm - in association with Henry's Bar & Restaurant in Cashelgarron.

The game is also being televised live by TG4.
