The Sligo New York gaelic football team won the New York senior football championship on Sunday night with a 0-15 to 2-5 win against Donegal at Gaelic Park.
Sligo had beaten Kerry in mid-week to reach the final. They are trained by Galway All-Ireland winning hurler Johnny McGlynn (who also plays for the team).
The Sligo team included several well-known Sligo footballers including Kyle Cawley (St Mary's), Darragh McConnon (Calry/St Joseph's) and Vinnie Cadden (Coolera/Strandhill).
Donegal reached the final thanks to a semi-final victory against Longford. The Donegal team included Ardara's Pat McGill and Leitrim's Keith Beirne.
