Sligo rower Brian Colsh finished third for Ireland in Thursday morning's opening heat of the men's heavyweight single sculls, on the opening day of the 2023 European Rowing Championships in Slovenia.
Colsh, rowing in lane four, finished behind Denmark's Sverri Nielsen and Dutch rower Leonard Van Lierop in a time of 7 mins 11.45 secs.
The Ballymote native will now enter the repechage phase of the single sculls with only the four heat winners on Thursday qualifying directly for the semi-finals.
The repechage takes place on Friday morning from 10:15am Irish time.
