There was disappointment for Sligo boxer Dean Clancy at the Olympic Games in Paris on Saturday as he lost a split decision to Jordanian boxer Obada Al-Kasbeh in their preliminary round bout of the 63.5kg (light-welterweight) division.
Clancy was 4-1 down after the opening round against an opponent who took the contest to the Sligo man.
There was improvement from Clancy in rounds two and three and Al-Kasbeh received a public warning in the final round - but it wasn't enough to swing the verdict.
“I thought I nicked the third, especially with the point deduction.”
