Sligo's Etna Flanagan to captain Ireland International Rules team

Sligo and St Nathy's gaelic footballer Etna Flanagan has been named as joint-captain of the first ever Ireland women's Masters International Rules team, who will take on Australia in their inaugural test match in Charlestown on March 9th.

Flanagan and Waterford's Miriam Liston will share the captaincy for this historic international fixture at Char

The first of two Tests is taking place on International Women's Day, Saturday, March 9th.

The Ireland women's team is managed by former Mayo and ATU Sligo Sigerson Cup winner Michael Moyles - and he is assisted by Donegal's Maria Devenney.

The Ireland team will also include Leitrim's Maeve Quinn and Donegal's Diane Toner.

There will also be a men's over-50s International Rules Test Match the same day between Ireland and Australia.

The men's and women's teams will each play two Test matches - on March 9th and March 16th.
