Sligo's Seán Flanagan booked his place in the quarter-finals of golf's AIG Irish Close Championship in Ballybunion in county Kerry on Tuesday, after he beat his good friend and long-time Co Sligo Golf Club team-mate TJ Ford by 2&1 in the last 16.
Flanagan, who currently plays out of Portmarnock Golf Club, was taking on leading qualifier Ronan Mullarney from Galway in the last eight on Tuesday afternoon.
Mullarney set a new course record 62 at County Sligo Golf Club in Rosses Point earlier this year during the Flogas Irish Amateur Open.
