Strand Celtic bowed out of the 2023 Connacht Junior Cup at the semi-final stage on Saturday, as they lost 1-0 at home to Athenry FC of Galway.
Cole Connolly's deft glancing header in the opening quarter of the match proved to be the matchwinner.\
Strand had numerous chances in either half but were unable to convert any of them, as the visitors produced a determined display over the 90 minutes to claim the semi-final victory.
The second semi-final between Mervue Utd (Galway) and Castlebar Celtic takes place on Sunday at 2pm.
