Summerhill College of Sligo's bid to regain the Connacht Colleges senior 'A' football title ended in disappointment in Ballyhaunis on Saturday afternoon, as they were edged out by St Colemans of Claremorris on a final scoreline of 2-9 to 1-9.
An impressive 20-minute spell by the Mayo college in the opening half laid foundation for this win with full-forward Darragh Beirnecausing Summerhill all sorts of problems.
He helped Colman's establish a 2-5 to 0-5 interval lead.
The Sligo man rallied well in the second-half and closed the gap to single point at one stage.
However, Beirne kicked a settling score in the closing stages - he finished the day with 1-5 as Coleman's eventually got home with three points to spare.
